|
| TV movie made for WOWOW (PPV TV) based on the novel by Natsuhiko Kyougoku as one of his 'Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari' (roughly means '100 stories from the word of mouth') series. (Anime version is aka 'Requiem from the Darkness',) - Set in Edo period, Momosuke, a writer and collector of ghost stories, hears the rumours of Giemon, the bandit who 'never dies'. Every time he is arrested, he is killed by decapitation, and resurrects shortly afterwards. Momosuke meets Mataichi, a small time crook selling 'Giemon's talismans' at outrageous price. This meeting leads him to a mysterious beautiful woman named Ogin. He is intrigued by her because he witnesses Ogin visiting the grave of Gieon who killed her mother. Momosuke and Ogin come to see Giemon's head decapitated - for the 3rd time - and exposed to public. There, Momosuke notices Ogin is embarrassed to find Sasamori, the official who interrogated Giemon. And soon, Giemon resurrects for the 3rd time and begins terrorizing the city of Edo once again... |
