|
| aka 'Lupin III' or 'Lupin The 3rd'. Complete 155 episodes (Disc 1-25: 6 episodes per disc, Disc 26: 5 episodes) of the 2nd TV series of 'Lupin III' based on comics by Monkey Punch. The series is supervised by Seijun Suzuki. After the original TV series was cancelled due to the poor rating, the show had gained much popularity by occasional reruns in the following years, enough to lead the network to make the new series. Although the series was made as the direct sequel to the original, it was aimed at more immature audience and focused on comedy side. Along with difference of key creators and some of the voice cast, it caused controversy by the fans of the original series. But like it or not, the success of the 2nd series established the public image of Lupin III, and introduced what used to be cult favorites to the genral public. Today, characters of 'Lupin III' are some of the best known anime/manga characters in Japan for all time, to the entire generations. For Hayao Miyazaki fans, he wrote and directed 2 episodes (#145 and #155) in this series by the pseudonym Tsutomu Teruki. |
