| PLOT SYNOPSIS for Battle Royale: Special Edition (2001 version) |
 |
| 2001 re-edited/re-relase version of the most controversial Japanese movie in 2000. Also, director Fukasaku assembled the original cast to shoot the additional footages. - An act has passed the Japanese congress. The 'BR act' - 'The Act of Reformation of Education for the New Century' formally - is the result of the bad economy, the collapse of education system, growing number of juvenile crime, lots of killed teachers. Adults must have powers on children. And children must be strong enough to survive the tough times. Thus, the act chooses one class of a junior high school at randam every year, forces students of the class to kill each other until one student remains. They are put in an uninhabited island. The map and arms are given to each one. Also, the special device is put on their kneck, which explodes if one breaks the rule of the game. Of cource, activities such as murder, maim, posession of arms, are not regarded illegal during the game. |
