|
| 'Cyborg 009' (Zero-Zero-Nine) has been one of the best-known works by 'the King of Manga' Shoutarou Ishinomori (aka Ishimori). The original manga books have never been out of print in various forms since 1964. It was made into TV series 2 times in the past (1967 and 1979) along with several movies. This is the new TV series version started in 2001. - Episodes 1-3: Jou Shimamura awakens on a bed in a strange room. It seems some surgical operation has been done to him. But he doesn't even know where he is, why he's here. When he tries to break free, he finds he has amazing powers. He easily destroys the robots which try to stop him. And he hears a voice calling him inside his head: 'Come join us.' The voice is the telepathy from Cyborg 001. He tells Jou is 009, the latest experiment of 'Black Ghost' - an evil organization of 'death merchants'. They make wars, they make waepons, and they make money. The other 8 cyborgs (who have been abducted like Jou from various parts of the world) don't want to be used as weapons. They want freedom. So they decide to escape with Dr. Gilmore. Obviously Black Ghost can't tolerate it. They send many assasins to destory 00-numbers. |
