|
| Based on the novel by Kazumasa Hirai. After collaborating on the original manga 'Genma Taisen' (1967) and 'Shin Genma Taisen' (1971), writer Kazumasa Hirai and manga artist Shoutarou Ishinomori agreed that they should pursue the different courses about the material. Hirai wrote enormous volumes of novels afterwards. This animated feature is based on the early part. It was basically the novelization of the original manga, which was forced to end abruptly by the publisher. (The is also known as the first movie project Katsuhiro Ootomo was involved. He did character designs.) - Princess Luna of Transylvania has suffered the same dream recently. It was actually a telepathic communication from an alien intelligence. It was from Floy, the survivir of mass destruction caused by 'Genma' (literal transtaion 'Phantom Evil'), a mysterious entity which have seekd pure total cosmic destruction for more than 10 billion years. Floy tells her that Genma is coming to Earth and she should assemble psionic warriors to defende. Floy sends Vega to Earth, a veteran of the psychic wars who has tired of fighting, or just living, since he has lost everything in hopeless war against Genma. Luna finds a possible candidate as a psionic warrior in Japanese high school student, Jou Azuma... |
