| Japanese comedy/mystery TV series written by Kouki Mitani. Ever since 'Columbo' hit in Japan in early 1970s, there have been so many rip-offs. Naturally, none has achieved success. 'Furuhata Ninzaburou' is a rare exception. It was a sleeper hit in early 1990s, mimicking the format of 'Columbo': Each episode begins with the killing, then Lt. Ninzaburou Furuhata comes to investigation, almost instantly knows who the killer is, then he tries to find the clue, often by setting a trap. Also, each episode features a popular name actor.
