 |
| [NHK DVD] Japanese TV mini-series based on the novel by Saburou Shiroyama. The title roughly means 'Price wars'. Complete 3 episodes. - A story of a man who establishes Japan's first supermarket. (This is a fiction, but Japanese viewers can easily recognize who is the model of the story.) He is haunted by the memories of WWII. 'If we had food then. If we had water. If we had medicines...' His friends died of shortage of such. After the war, he is determined to deliver anything people need, with cheapest price possible. He started a small store, but his drastic price-setting results harassment by manufacturers, who don't want their merchandise to be sold so cheap. They do anything to cut the supply for his store... |
