| 1989, outside of the city of Manila, Philippines. There's a place called 'Smokey Moutain', the largest slum in Asia, one of the largest garbage dumps in the world, where 21,000 people lived. Those who make money by picking up and selling recyclable garbages are called Scavengers, most of who are children. Japanese fimmaker Hiroshi Shinomiya followed those childrern for 6 years. (He continues the work with 2001 followup 'Kami no Ko tachi (God's Children)'). |
