| 'The world is not beautiful. That's why it's beautiful.' - 'Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World' (complete Japanese title) is a series of short stories based on the book by Keiichi Shiguresawa. It tells the journey of Kino (a human) and Hermes (a bicycle who speaks human language). Kino and Hermes visit various countries, stay there for 3 days. They are perfect bystanders. Contains 2-part episode 'Colosseum'. Pt.1: At the gate, Kino and Jermes are told by a soldier that once enetred, they may be a first class citizen who can live on the ground. The others live underground, or become slaves... Pt.2: Kino and others who won the tournament are invited to the palace to see the puppet show. The story of the show represents the tragedy of this land. The King confesses that there's no future for all of them if they keep doing this. 'Then why don't you stop it?' Kino asks. 'Because it's fun. I enjoyed killing my father. Someday someone will come to kill me. Even it makes me exciting. That's the human nature.' |
